by | Jul 20, 2024 | Community, Financial Services/Grants, Resources

Starting this month, Singaporean households can now claim $300 in CDC vouchers that are distributed to assist with Singapore’s rising cost of living and citizen’s daily expenses. This year marks the first time that two distributions of CDC vouchers have been made within the same calendar year. These vouchers can be claimed online at [go.gov.sg/cdcv] by any member of a household and it is split equally for spending at participating hawkers, heartland merchants, and supermarkets. Read on to find out how and where you can use these vouchers.

Earlier this January 2024,Singaporean households enjoyed a total sum of $500 worth of CDC vouchers, providing an additional $200 in assistance compared to the previous year. Together with the current $300 distribution in June, each Singaporean household will receive a total of $800 in CDC vouchers for 2024. Prime Minister Wong, who also serves as Finance Minister, announced during Budget 2024 in February a $1.9 billion Assurance Package designed to alleviate cost-of-living concerns amid economic uncertainties. Part of this package includes additional CDC vouchers, with the first $300 disbursed in June 2024 and the remaining $300 scheduled for January 2025. In addition to CDC vouchers, the government is offering various forms of assistance, including U-Save and Service and Conservancy charge (S&CC) rebates, scheduled at different intervals throughout 2024. For the GSTV – S&CC Rebate, it offsets between 1.5 and 3.5 months of S&CC. Eligible households will receive their S&CC rebates in January, April, July, and October. For the Budget 2024 COL S&CC Rebate, it offsets 0.5 month of S&CC in January 2025. S&CC rebates will be used directly to offset your S&CC bills of the corresponding month. These measures aim to offset utility bills and housing expenses for eligible households.

As of June 2024, approximately 23,000 hawkers and heartland merchants are participating in the CDC vouchers scheme, alongside eight supermarket chains comprising 415 outlets islandwide. These businesses play a crucial role in supporting local economies and reducing household expenses. Seniors can easily locate participating businesses through the go.gov.sg/cdcvouchers  website, which lists all participating hawkers, heartland merchants, and supermarkets. Claiming the vouchers remains straightforward: one household member can log in using their Singpass credentials on the government portal and distribute the digital vouchers to other members via SMS.

As Singapore continues to navigate economic challenges, the CDC voucher scheme stands as a robust pillar of support for households, underscoring the government’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for its citizens. With easy access to participating businesses and straightforward claiming processes, these vouchers not only alleviate financial burdens but also stimulate local economies. For more details on the June 2024 CDC voucher scheme, visit https://vouchers.cdc.gov.sg/.
