Eight mobile is the newest mobile virtual network operator in the market, offering incredible value for money deals. This is a common trend we are seeing in recent years where there is a surge of virtual network operators in the market, each providing deals that seem to be better than the previous ones. Their service piggybacks on Starhub’s mobile network.
The key concern about these virtual mobile network operators is that connection may not be the most stable and coverage may not be as extensive as compared to that of the big 3 mobile service providers – Singtel, Starhub and M1.
Officially launched in April this year, eight prides itself on having the best network coverage in Singapore with an impressive 99.9% reach. For a network provider to boast of such claims, it might raise an eyebrow upon hearing this but reviews have been pretty consistent that coverage is good with little drop offs in connection.
For those who struggle with losing connections in basements or MRT tunnels, Eight promises “guaranteed connection” so you won’t have to fear losing connection and having your page not loading.
All plans come with free incoming calls and caller number display so you won’t have to fork out extra for this unlike most other mobile service providers. Additionally, this is available in both physical SIM and eSIM.

For those that prefer to purchase in stores, there are physical options for you to collect your SIMs. Simply head down to any of the collection points with your physical original ID.
There is no one best plan but the general rule of thumb when selecting a mobile plan is to just get what you need – unnecessary add ons which give the perception of being a more bang for your buck deal can end up adding up to an amount which can be better deployed elsewhere.
For seniors, saving up a retirement nest is important and if one can save on a telecommunication plan, by all means do so. If you’re undecided if eight is the best plan for you, do check out the available options in Singapore here and the promotions that are available for seniors in Singapore.
