As we step into 2025, it’s important to reflect on the initiatives rolled out in 2024 to enhance the quality of life for seniors in Singapore. Let’s explore these key initiatives!
In 2024, the Healthier SG initiative was expanded to prioritise preventive healthcare for seniors. This programme encourages regular health screenings and promotes healthier lifestyle choices. Recognising that many seniors face chronic health conditions, Healthier SG aims to empower them to take control of their health through education and accessible healthcare resources.

The Silver Generation Office (SGO) focused on reaching out to elderly citizens to ensure they are aware of the support available to them. The SGO has consistently provided seniors with information about health services, social activities, and financial assistance.
In 2024, the SGO expanded its outreach efforts, organizing more community engagement sessions and workshops to connect with seniors directly. These initiatives aim to enhance seniors’ knowledge and use of available resources, allowing them to navigate their options effectively and engage more fully with their communities.
The Active Ageing programme saw significant enhancements in 2024, with activities designed to keep seniors engaged and active. Community centres ramped up their efforts in organising workshops, exercise classes, and social gatherings for older adults. These initiatives promote physical health and social interaction, combating loneliness and isolation among seniors.
In addition, introducing digital literacy programmes has empowered seniors to embrace technology. By teaching them how to use smartphones and the internet, these programmes enable older adults to stay connected with family and friends, access online services, and participate in community activities.
Recognising caregivers’ pivotal role in seniors’ lives, the government introduced additional support measures in 2024. The Caregiver Training Grant provides an annual subsidy of $200, allowing caregivers to access funding for training courses. This initiative aims to equip caregivers with the skills and knowledge needed to provide effective care while also ensuring their own well-being.
