Understanding that healthcare is a basic need and is even more so important in an ageing society like Singapore, the government provides different tiers of subsidies across primary to tertiary healthcare to keep medical expenses affordable. Creating a network of policies and support systems is definitely taking a step in the right direction.
The amount of subsidy granted is based on one’s residency status and the government has taken a safety net approach where a combination of government subsidies ensures that one would be able to pay for their own healthcare.

Whilst the government and the community comes in to provide support, one’s health is ultimately one’s own responsibility. Sound financial planning coupled with efforts to take care of your own health is the best way to ensure that you’ll be self-sufficient and won’t have to heavily rely on government subsidies.
Growing Needs grew out of our own encounters with caring for our aging parents and reflecting on the Growing Needs that we ourselves would face as we advance in years. We hope to build a community that will learn, share and contribute towards caring for the growing needs of our loved ones.
