Singapore’s latest health care strategy, Healthier SG, aims to empower individuals by involving family doctors and prioritizing preventive care measures. This article explores the advantages and uncertainties associated with this trans-formative approach to health care.
Healthier SG represents a significant change in Singapore’s health care system as it focuses on promoting overall well-being through proactive measures.
Over the upcoming three to four years, Singapore has planned to allocate a significant sum of $1 billion towards the implementation of their Healthier SG initiative. This considerable investment will be accompanied by an annual expenditure of $400 million, primarily directed towards recurring expenses like annual health screenings for residents.
Starting on 5 July 2023, the Healthier SG enrolment initiative will kick off by targeting individuals aged 60 years and above who are Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents.
They will receive SMS invitations to register at a Healthier SG clinic or polyclinic. Individuals between the ages of 40 and 59 will be invited at a later time. Eligible residents will gradually receive SMS invitations to enroll through Health Hub.
By introducing a resident-GP model, individuals can now enroll with a dedicated family physician who will have an extensive knowledge of their medical history.
This will greatly aid in effectively managing their health and well-being. The best part? The initial consultation will be completely free of charge!
Join Healthier SG today and take control of your health! Together with your doctor, you will develop a personalized health plan tailored to your needs.
Enjoy the added benefit of the Government providing an annual service fee to general practitioners for each enrolled resident.
The fee amount will be determined based on your individual health risk profile and required care. By enrolling in Healthier SG, you can receive complimentary annual check-ups, nationally recommended vaccinations like flu shots, and screenings for conditions such as Type 2 diabetes.
Additionally, there will be limits on medication prices. Patients with specific chronic illnesses will have the opportunity to fully cover their treatment costs using MediSave funds, eliminating the need for a 15 percent co-payment.
To promote regular visits to family doctors, steps will be taken to reduce the expense of medications for common chronic conditions at GP clinics.
Additionally, individuals will be eligible for a new subsidy level through the Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS), ensuring affordable prices for commonly prescribed drugs at private family doctor clinics. Don’t pass up these incredible benefits – become part of Healthier SG now!
Below are the steps to sign up for Healthier SG :

(2) They should then download the Health Hub (HH) App on their phone.
