As caregivers, one might get lost easily in the hustle bustle of daily caregiving duties – both mental and physical health might then take a back seat. We know that this caregiving journey is no easy feat and is one that might potentially alter the dynamics between caregivers and the care recipient.
One of the ways that caregivers can self-help is to explore courses and workshops that are targeted towards caregivers, supporting caregivers in their caregiving journey. These workshops and programs are beneficial in the sense that they impart techniques and tips to how to ace as a caregiver, ensuring that caregivers would be able to create a comfortable environment for themselves and the caregiver, whilst also putting oneself first.
Here, we shortlist some upcoming courses and workshops that are catered towards supporting caregivers in their journey:
11 Bedok North Street 1, Singapore 469662
To help caregivers care better for themselves and their loved ones, there will be talks about mental wellness, advance care planning and future care planning. Caregivers, seniors, and community partners will also be organising interesting workshops and putting up unique stage performances.
Blk 839, Yishun St 81, #01-298
It is designed for participants to connect in a meaningful manner, support and feel supported while practicing human centric skills.
11 Eunos Rd 8, Singapore 408601
Breakout session (1415 – 1615 hrs): “Ageing families, dementia & resources”
Panel session (1615 – 1700 hrs): Topics will include the role of Active Ageing Centres, counselors, family physicians in the rolling out of the Healthier SG national strategy. The importance of family caregivers of seniors will be highlighted.
Whilst it is important to care for your loved ones, caregivers need to prioritise themselves and seek timely help if needed. It is totally okay to reach out if you need help or leverage on the many resources and community support available out there for caregivers.
Growing Needs grew out of our own encounters with caring for our aging parents and reflecting on the Growing Needs that we ourselves would face as we advance in years. We hope to build a community that will learn, share and contribute towards caring for the growing needs of our loved ones.
