Courses And Workshops To Support Caregivers

As caregivers, one might get lost easily in the hustle bustle of daily caregiving duties – both mental and physical health might then take a back seat. We know that this caregiving journey is no easy feat and is one that might potentially alter the dynamics between caregivers and the care recipient.

One of the ways that caregivers can self-help is to explore courses and workshops that are targeted towards caregivers, supporting caregivers in their caregiving journey. These workshops and programs are beneficial in the sense that they impart techniques and tips to how to ace as a caregiver, ensuring that caregivers would be able to create a comfortable environment for themselves and the caregiver, whilst also putting oneself first.

Here, we shortlist some upcoming courses and workshops that are catered towards supporting caregivers in their journey:

  • Reminiscence Arts for Dementia is a facilitated learning journey which prepares learners to conduct small-group interactive reminiscence arts sessions for persons living with dementia using objects, storytelling, and artwork materials.

  • This course is intended for individuals who are interested to learn about dementia and assist people with dementia in the community
  • The course is SkillsFuture credit eligible
Self E-learning Preparatory Caregiver Training Programme – Social Service Institute Online Online – Self E-Learning
  • Provides existing and potential caregivers a basic understanding of the meaning of caregiving, care issues the caregivers will face, and responsibilities involved in providing care for loved ones
  • Learners are given 1 month access to complete the e-learning

  • DCODE (Developing Coping skills to help caregivers Overcome Difficulties and be Empowered) Workshop is curated for caregivers of persons with dementia.
  • Coping with stroke workshop – interactive group based workshop will guide caregivers to understand the basic knowledge of stroke and learn ways to manage the physical, cognitive and psychological impact of stroke.
  • Caregiver essentials workshop provides caregivers with an overview of caregiving and practical tips to manage their day to day caregiving tasks.

 

Conclusion

Whilst it is important to care for your loved ones, caregivers need to prioritise themselves and seek timely help if needed. It is totally okay to reach out if you need help or leverage on the many resources and community support available out there for caregivers.
